CHECKS AT MARKET PROCESS

image

• The WIC or Senior participant should select the fruits, vegetables, & cut herbs (and honey, for Senior Participants only) that they would like to purchase.
• The farmer totals the products and tells the participant the amount.
• The participant informs the farmer that they will be paying for the products with an FMNP check(s).
• The WIC participant signs the FMNP check, and shows the check and their WIC ID folder to the farmer.
• The farmer compares the signature on the check to the signature on the folder to insure that the correct participant is using the check. (Senior participants do not have an ID folder, so no signature comparison is needed.)
• The farmer accepts the check as payment.
• If the full monetary value of the check is not being used, then the farmer may add product to make up the difference, however NO cash change can be given.
• Participants can always buy other products with their own money.
